Reid Dominates At Desertmartin
Justin Reid took a clean sweep of race wins at round four of the 2009 Ulster Premier Quadcross Championship on Saturday the 26th of July, taking his second overall win in as many meetings with the Team Can-Am rider in dominant form around a demanding Desertmartin Motocross Circuit. Promoted by the Cookstown & District MCC at the former GP circuit, Justin once again showed that he has returned to the level that has helped him win multi-British and Ulster Championship honours, his fantastic performance on the Team Can-Am DS450 Xmx moving him to 4th in the series just eighteen points behind the leader.

Race One
Securing 3rd pick of gate despite only getting one shot at a flying lap, Justin got fantastic drive off the line and gated 3rd around the first corner as the field charged out on the opening lap, Justin quickly adapting to the ever changing surface and moving in to 2nd as they broke the timing beam for the first time. Increasing his pace as the track came to him, Justin applied relentless pressure as he challenged for the lead around the demanding circuit, and as they approached the halfway point in the twenty-minute plus one-lap moto had moved to the front. With a clear track and the potent power from the Rotax powered DS450 Xmx, Justin maintained his furious pace as he pulled away from the ensuing pack, opening up a six second gap which he comfortably maintained to the chequered flag for a superb race win.

Race Two
As the mechanical gates dropped for the final moto, Justin once again got a fantastic start and rounded the first corner in 2nd before assuming the lead half way around the opening lap. With the days racing taking it’s toll around the sandy Desertmartin surface, Justin used the excellent handling of the PEP suspension to fend off challenges in the opening half of the race as he became involved in a three way battle for the lead, Justin’s amazing pace only marginally slowed by a flat rear tyre for the last quarter of the race, taking the chequered flag by an impressive fifteen second winning margin for another emphatic victory.

Reid
‘I would like to congratulate the club for an excellent days racing today – the track was in exceptional condition and it really is world class. I had a lot of fun in both motos and really enjoyed the second when the track roughened up a bit. It is in these conditions that my Can-am and PEP suspension set up really shine. I was lucky that it is a sand based track and not hard pack, or the puncture may have been more of a problem. Huge thanks to everyone in the team – hopefully I’m starting to justify some of their efforts.’
